Executive Coaching
Chris Johnson BA (hons), FCIPD, APECS
Chris leads the Executive Coaching practice. He has over 15 years experience specialising in the development of leaders through executive coaching. He works with clients across New Zealand, Australia, West Indies, Middle East and Europe. He also teaches an EMBA Course at Auckland University.
Particular areas of interests are newly appointed leaders, those leading significant change programmes, new board appointments and those considering ‘what next’. Chris works with clients from a range of organisations from multinational companies to local entrepreneurs, in both the private and public sectors. By combining his pragmatic commercial focus with many years of executive coaching at a senior level, he has helped numerous clients achieve their goals.
Prior to joining Kerridge & Partners Chris was MD of the London-based consultancy Cedar International where he worked extensively with both senior executives and board members of many organisations in both the public and private sectors. Client organisations included many of the FTSE 250 companies as well as H M Treasury, The National Audit Office and Strategic Health Authorities.
In his earlier career, Chris worked for 15 years at Whitbread plc, a leading hospitality and retail company, he initially worked in systems and finance and then in various HRD roles. He was a Board Member of two divisional businesses; one of which was Costa Coffee. He then joined Bass plc, where he was Director of Management Development & Education for all aspects of leadership development in a 50,000 employees.
He is a regular speaker both in New Zealand and in the UK on career and organisational development issues. He has undertaken research in the fields of executive career change and creation of new career portfolios. In addition, he has contributed to several books and has written articles on coaching. He is a mentor for HRINZ and actively involved in professional development and growth.
Chris has recently written a book and it is now published – ‘Taking Charge of Your career’.
Chris is an Accredited Member of the Association for professional Coaching and Supervision (APECS) and a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Personnel Development. He is a qualified psychometric assessor and a national level rowing coach, which included coaching his wife to be a world champion.
